Mark Townsend was born in Melbourne, Australia, where he still lives. While being interested in fractals and programming since the mid 80's, it wasn't until he discovered Ultra Fractal in early 1999 that he started to use them for visual art (which he had previously abandoned many years earlier). Since then most of his free time has been spent creating images and programming for Ultra Fractal.
