I have some of the help files that are referenced in online formulas, including ones from lkm, mt, reb, and sam, but I don't have any of the dmj-pub help files. Are all of the help files still available somewhere?

They don't seem to download when I update the formula database.

I'm afraid I don't know what supplementary files are added to UF's folder or how the ones I have got there. However, I do happen to have a dmj.txt file the top part of which reads as follows, perhaps this will help:

"dmj-pub-uf.zip
--------------------

Included files:

dmj-exam.upr Example parameters using these formulas
    dmj-pub.txt This file
    dmj.ucl Coloring formulas
    dmj.ufm Fractal formulas
    dmj.uxf Transformation formulas

More information can be found at this web site:

    http://www.fractalus.com/ultrafractal/dmj-pub-uf.htm

You can always download a current version of these formulas from here:

    ftp://ftp.fractalus.com/pub/extras/dmj-pub-uf.zip

You can read about re-use guidelines here:

    http://www.fractalus.com/ultrafractal/dmj-pub-uf-reuse.htm

This covers re-use for both the formulas and images. There has been a lot
of confusion about this in the past, so PLEASE take a moment and review
the above web page if you have not already done so."

Thanks for the reply. Damien Jones's formulas are in the UF formula database, I'm just missing the help files.

As a side note, the link you mention,
http://www.fractalus.com/ultrafractal/dmj-pub-uf.htm,
is broken. I emailed webmaster@fractulus.com about it, as the error page suggested.

Not much help, though:
"Your message wasn't delivered to webmaster@fractalus.com because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail."

Thanks for the leads. I already had SAM's and LKM's help. It's good to get MDE's help.

You're welcome. The information might help others in future too.

That link works for me, as does the top level fractalus.com. I checked all the links before posting because rather dated pages like this tend to disappear over time in my experience. A case in point: the original MDE domain URL I had no longer existed but after some research I found the content on Google Drive.

According to my notes, Damien Jones had good intentions to document his formulas, but never finished. He did post several descriptions on the ultra fractal wiki, which is unfortunately no longer available. A few have been archived by the Wayback Machine:

My first reply was mistaken. The link
http://www.fractalus.com/ultrafractal/dmj-pub-uf.htm
is okay, but the link on that page to dmj-pub-uf.zip is broken.

Ahh... I see! Yes, you're right, the zip file is no longer there. However you're not missing anything. I happen to have have that zip file squirrelled away and its contents are basically the same as the DMJ files in the formula folder plus a 21-yr old changelog text file recording updates made to his formulas. No help files as such.
