I have just uploaded Simple Switch Formula to jlb.ufm. By default it calls my SwitchCombo plugin in the new library, jlb.ulb. This allows generating new combinations of formulas; all of them allow switching from Mandelbrot-type mode to Julia-type mode or vice versa with the F7 key or pressing the Switch Mode icon on the toobar. Both divergent and convergent formulas, or some of each, can be used. I wrote these in order to generate new shapes. All the plug-ins use a new class, SFormula, defined in jlb.ulb, with information passed in a State object.

This is a too-brief introduction. Experimentation is required.

The basic structure of SwitchCombo is to do some number of iterations of the initial formula, then repeat iterating the main formula until completion (divergence, convergence, or both) or the iteration limit is reached.

All the examples here are single-layer images with the standard gradient. They are illustrative, not final beautiful images.

The first example does 3 iterations of standard Mandelbrot (a divergent formula) followed by many iterations of Poly Newton (a convergent formula, usually). It’s a Julia-type fractal and mainly convergent. Try using the Explore function to vary the parameters, including how many of the initial iteration. Experiment with the coloring.
