For the Slope Lighting tutorial open Object Formula Switch Lite and load the the Slope Switch plug-in. Virtually any Switch formula can be used to apply the slope plug-in, but for this tutorial we will stay with Mandelbrot Julia Switch. The slope formula requires a specific coloring formula, called Lighting. There are several of them available in the Ultrafractal database. We will use Lighting wi

Plug-in Tutorial: Embossing
This tutorial will use Switch Emboss, which is a plug-in for Object Formula Switch Lite. Open Object Formula Switch Lite and replace Mandelbrot Julia Switch with Switch Embossed. Immediately following the new plug-in will be some text recommending some changes to the bailout settings. New parameters for Light Angle, Contour Size and Emboss Type will be visible. The

This tutorial will be focused upon some formulas that I use frequently and the plug-ins they can use. Many of the plug-in types have multiple authors.

Are there any formulas that will do mapping like either of the attached photos. Both of these are created from photos using apps on the iPhone. If not I wish someone would create one!
I have recently posted a number of images to the Facebook UF page for my new Ducks Switch formula and some images created with my 3D progressive raytracer. I have found that not everyone is comfortable using plugins and other UF5 stuff. If there is a general interest I will post some tutorials here for how I use plugins. This will mostly be for my formulas.

Object Formula Switch has a number of options in the dual formula mode. Its possible to combine two divergent formulas, two convergent formulas, and a divergent with a convergent formula. The combination can be created by a variety of alternate iterations or by merging using any of several types of operations (addition, multiplication, division and much more). Bailout can be by either formula or

Hi All,
The May 2016 collection of the parameter files of UF is sent to the cloud.
You can find them at the cloud of Microsoft:

Supplying links to individual images seems inappropriate for the forum so I'll attempt a monthly summary as a more economical alternative.
In January 2016 seventeen images were uploaded to the gallery (the link to the gallery is here:

I don't tend to accentuate the fractal dependence so be warned for the images are hardly mainstream. "Abstract" is
Internally, Lucy Goosey Switch uses two separate formulas. In the older versions switching between the formulas was accomplished using a modulus criterion applied to the number of iterations. This works well for an every other iteration switch but not for more complex switching. The latest version can use either modulus switching (the default) or more complex sequence switching.
This formula derived from the Ducks Switch formula with multiple modifications. Bailout is determined by the number of iterations or classical bailout. An iterations parameter which is independent of the value on the Maximum Iterations value on the Formula Tab has been included. The value for 'Iterations for Bailout' must always be less than the Maximum Iterations setting. Unlike other Duck formu

Ducks switch works with the Switch formulas I described in the tutorial. For Ducks switch specifically the formula is derived from the Ducks formula sam.ufm with multiple modifications. Bailout is determined by the number of iterations rather than a convergence or divergence criteria, so an iterations parameter which is independent of the value on the Maximum Iterations value on the Formula Tab h

Ducky Plus
Ducky Plus extends the capabilities of the existing Ducky-formulas. Per pixel it can in one run follow various basic codes. These successive iterations take place in three steps:
From start to n1 ['End of First Step'] the first series of iterations,
from n1 to n2 ['End of Last Step'] the second series,
and finally from [n2 + 1] to 'Maximum iterations' the third and last
When rotating a fractal image (using Alt key and mouse in fractal window) I would find it very useful to have a means of easily getting a perfect 90 or 180 degrees. Perhaps another key like Shift could be used alongside the Alt key to add specific "stops" to the rotation so you can see/feel the image accurately "snapping" to the desired angle? Maybe every 45 degrees would be useful?
I hope I'

This tutorial will make extensive use of plugins for both the fractal formula and for the coloring formulas. All of the examples have more than one layer.
The first example is called Boxes, and the upr is on the forum website. It uses the Julia form of the Gopalsamy Switch fractal and uses 'smallest|imag(z)|' for the basic height. In Lighting with Textures the 'Soften edges' parameter checke
